That’s a kernel panic, hiding behind a pretty little picture of a power button. If you want to see why it happened, you can check /Library/Logs/PanicReporter after you restart.

Trying something new.

Upgrading from my current credit card case (left) to the Smart Money Clip, a card case plus money clip (right).

Initial verdict: The new case is over 3x as thick, which is a bit disconcerting. This is offset by the awesomeness of keeping my pocket full of cash under control. This could actually work.

Now look at this post that I reblogged. Do you see a source of this photo? Do you see any form of credit given to the photographer behind this beautiful image? A click through link? A simple name? No. Nothing. It takes a lot to make a nice piece of art and takes only a minute to source your posts. Let this be a lesson. Photo via Troy Holden of CaliberSF.

People have no idea how one photo gets from one source to where they see it being reblogged. It could have been emailed, IMed, google searched, linked to, etc. It bums me out when people freak out when they see a photo that someone posted somewhere without a link back to the original photo source. They assume the poster is being negligent, and that’s just negative. Photos are meant to be shared, and if sometimes the original source gets lost it isn’t the worst thing in the world. And if it is? Put it up on Flickr with restrictions. Or embed it in a flash file.

Don’t hate on me because I randomly found it somewhere (in my case, a friend sent me the file via AIM) and then put it on my blog. What am I suppose to do? Google Mercedes + awesome + red? I reblog from other sites sometimes, and when I do I link to them. If there isn’t a source, though, that shouldn’t stop you from sharing something wonderful and creative with other people, right?

There’s a lot wrong with this response, but I’m going to pick on this line: “Put it up on Flickr with restrictions.” … Because, you see, this photo was posted on Flickr with restrictions.

The only thing the photographer asks of you is that you give him attribution, that you don’t use his photo for profit, and that you share it with others as well.

Is that too much to ask?

Next time, take five seconds and Google it on TinEye before you post a photo without attribution.
